The driver of a minivan remains at large after fleeing the scene of a fatal crash on foot Saturday afternoon in the Napa Valley that left five people with injuries.

The crash occurred around 4:16 pm Saturday on the Silverado Trail, south of Yountville Cross Road.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the crash occurred just outside of Silverado Vineyards. Per the Chronicle, a Toyota Sienna minivan with five people inside, traveling south on Silverado Trail, veered into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a BMW X3 sport utility vehicle that had traveled from Menlo Park.

One of the passengers in the minivan, a 46-year-old woman identified as Hipolita Perez of Fairfield, was killed in the crash, and three other passengers suffered injuries.

The CHP apparently knows the identity of the male driver of the minivan, who fled the scene on foot, but his name has not been publicized.

As the Press Democrat reports, a Menlo Park woman, Elsie Tien, 62, the passenger in the BMW, suffered major injuries and was transported Queen of the Valley Hospital for treatment. The driver of the BMW, 62-year-old Paul Klein, reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

19-year-old Fernando Hernandez, a passenger in the minivan, also reportedly suffered major injuries.

The CHP continues to seek witnesses to the crash, and anyone with information is asked to call the Napa CHP Office at 707-699-6300, or the Golden Gate Communications Center at 707-641-8300.
