All month: Pride season and free concerts

Two traditions run through the whole month. Stern Grove Festival brings free live music to the eucalyptus-lined amphitheater at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard every Sunday at 2 p.m. from June 14 through mid-August; the 2026 season opens with Peter Cat Recording Co. and continues with Bomba Estéreo on June 21 and Japanese Breakfast on June 28. Admission is free but capacity is capped, so reserve through sterngrove.org and arrive early.

Meanwhile, the whole city leans into Pride Month with parties, art and community events building toward the final weekend.

Week 1 (June 1–7): Festa Italiana

North Beach opens the month with Festa Italiana on June 6–7 — Italian food and wine, music, and the running of the Statuto Race on Sunday morning. It’s free, family-friendly and a great low-key way to ease into the festival season.

Week 2 (June 8–14): Stern Grove kicks off

The big date is Sunday, June 14, when the free Stern Grove Festival opens. Pack a picnic, dress in layers (the Grove sits near the foggy west side), and you’ve got a world-class concert for the price of a sandwich.

Week 3 (June 15–21): Juneteenth and North Beach Festival

Juneteenth, June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is observed citywide, with the Fillmore district’s long-running celebration as the centerpiece — music, food and Black-owned vendors. See our dedicated guide to Juneteenth 2026 in San Francisco for the full program.

The weekend of June 20–21 brings the North Beach Festival, billed as one of the country’s original street fairs: 200-plus vendors across 11 blocks, three music stages, Italian street painting and the beloved Blessing of the Animals, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, free. Full details in our North Beach Festival guide.

Week 4 (June 22–30): SF Pride weekend

The month crescendos with SF Pride on June 27–28 — the 56th annual Celebration and Parade. The Celebration fills Civic Center Plaza both days from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Parade rolls up Market Street from the Embarcadero to Civic Center on Sunday, June 28, starting at 10:30 a.m. It’s free (a $5–10 donation is suggested) and draws over a million people.

Pride morning is often cold and foggy and the streets close early. Take transit, bring layers, and stake out a viewing spot along Market Street well before 10:30 a.m.

Everything you need — route, stages, accessibility and transit — is in our complete SF Pride 2026 guide. For street closures and reroutes, check SFMTA before you head out.

Doing June on a budget

Stern Grove, North Beach Festival, Festa Italiana and the Pride Celebration are all free to attend. Pair them with the city’s free museum days and parks and you can fill the month without spending much at all — see our roundup of free things to do in San Francisco.
