San Francisco concerts this weekend, Friday October 9 and Saturday October 10, 2026, run from an arena show by Rod Wave at Chase Center to two sold-out nights of My Morning Jacket at The Fillmore, Bonnie Raitt at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, the Dead Kennedys back on home turf at The Regency Ballroom and Jacob Collier at a sold-out Castro Theatre. Around them sit free Fleet Week band concerts, a yacht-rock block party in the Financial District and film-with-orchestra nights at the Curran, all in a weekend when the northern waterfront is gridlocked by the air show, SFNews.us has found.

The practical point first: most of these venues are south of Market or in the Western Addition and Tenderloin, well away from the Fleet Week crowds, but Chase Center has street closures on both nights. Doors-and-show times below come from venue listings; several shows are already sold out, so only buy resale tickets through the venue’s official exchange.

Friday, October 9

Rod Wave at Chase Center

The biggest room in the city this weekend belongs to Rod Wave, the Florida rapper whose melancholy, soul-sampling records have turned him into one of the most reliable arena draws in hip-hop. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Expect road closures on 16th Street and Warriors Way from about 6 p.m.; the T Third and the 78X Arena Express from 16th Street BART are the sensible ways in, and meters nearby charge $13 an hour during the event. Our road closures guide for October 9–10 has the full Mission Bay detail.

My Morning Jacket at The Fillmore

Two nights of My Morning Jacket at The Fillmore, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., sold out quickly, which is no surprise: the Kentucky band’s long, guitar-heavy sets suit the historic ballroom better than any arena. If you are hunting for a ticket, use the venue’s official resale route and be wary of social media sellers.

Dead Kennedys at The Regency Ballroom

The Dead Kennedys formed in San Francisco in 1978, and a show at The Regency Ballroom on Van Ness Avenue, starting at 7:30 p.m., is as close to a homecoming as punk gets. The Regency is an easy walk from the 49 Van Ness and the 38 Geary, and is far enough from the Marina to avoid the worst of the Fleet Week traffic.

More on Friday night

Phillip Phillips, the former American Idol winner, plays the Great American Music Hall at 8 p.m.; DOMi & JD BECK bring their jazz-fusion WHO ASKED? tour to Bimbo’s 365 Club in North Beach at 8 p.m.; Devon Gilfillian plays The Independent at 9 p.m.; and Cumbiatron takes August Hall at 9 p.m. Holy Priest is at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium with doors at 7 p.m., and Bit Brigade plays Bottom of the Hill at 7 p.m. For something different, the Curran Theatre screens The Terminator with a live orchestra at 7:30 p.m., and Public Works hosts the Halloween-flavored Monster’s Ball, with aerialists, comedy and DJs, until 2:30 a.m.

Free: Fleet Week yacht rock on Front Street

Fridays on Front Street turns into a Fleet Week block party from 4 to 9 p.m. around 240 Front Street, with yacht-rock bands, lip-sync battles, oysters, bar specials and an outdoor screening of Top Gun. It is free with an Eventbrite RSVP and sits a short walk from Embarcadero BART, which makes it the easiest after-work option of the weekend.

Saturday, October 10

Bonnie Raitt at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

Bonnie Raitt, a Bay Area favorite for five decades, plays the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Saturday with doors at 6:30 p.m. The venue sits on Civic Center Plaza, directly above Civic Center BART and Muni Metro, so there is no reason to drive. Arrive early: the general admission floor fills fast and the bars inside are slow at peak times.

Jacob Collier at The Castro

Jacob Collier’s show at the restored Castro Theatre, doors at 7 p.m., is sold out. The British multi-instrumentalist’s habit of turning the audience into a choir works particularly well in a room with the Castro’s acoustics. Muni Metro to Castro Station is the quickest route; note that the station’s elevator work is wrapping up, so use the north-side escalator.

Palace, Polo & Pan and late shows

The London band Palace plays The Warfield on Market Street at 8 p.m. Polo & Pan host an afternoon block party at The Midway in the Dogpatch from 3 p.m., which pairs well with the Warriors’ preseason game against the Kings at Chase Center at 5:30 p.m. Later on, Dublon plays The Independent at 9 p.m., Punchis! Punchis! takes August Hall at 10 p.m., and Juicebumps, Fake Fruit and Diesel Dudes share the bill at Bottom of the Hill at 7:30 p.m. The Curran’s Coraline in Concert is sold out.

Free military band concerts

Fleet Week’s free military band concerts continue through the weekend at Ghirardelli Square, Union Square, Japantown and neighborhood parks. They are short, informal sets, and they are the best way to hear live music on Saturday without a ticket. On Sunday, Fleet Week bands march in the Italian Heritage Parade, which we cover in our guide to things to do in San Francisco on October 10–11.

Robotaxis cannot pick up along the northern waterfront between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., which matters only if you are coming straight from the air show; we explain why in our piece on Waymo’s Fleet Week restrictions. If you would rather leave the city, our Bay Area weekend guide covers Bruno Mars at Levi’s Stadium and shows at the Frost Amphitheater, the Fox Theater in Oakland and the Mountain Winery.

Tips for a smooth night out

Check the venue’s bag policy before you leave: Chase Center and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium both limit bag sizes. Charge your phone, since almost every venue now uses mobile tickets. After shows that end around 11 p.m., Muni Owl service is thin, so check BART’s last trains if you are heading to the East Bay.
